In the summer of 2005 the Web was fragmenting fast. As blogs and niche content sites multiplied, industry pundits asked how advertisers would cope with consumers’ increasingly divided attention. The founders of Adify knew that advertisers, content aggregators, and individual publishers would derive great value from an intelligent aggregation system, but no such system existed. The technology and services needed to aggregate quality online advertising inventory were distributed across too many companies. The integration costs were too high.
Seeing a game-changing opportunity, Adify was founded. The company’s first service, Adify Network Builder, was an integrated technology platform upon which customers could build and commercialize premium vertical ad networks. Adify Network Builder combined advanced ad serving and targeting technology together with an invaluable layer of expert human judgment and monitoring. Today the platform powers more than 200 of the world’s best vertical ad networks, and connects premium brand advertisers to the deeply engaged audiences of thousands of quality mid- and long-tail sites.
In May 2008, Adify was acquired by Cox TMI, Inc., part of Cox Enterprises, one of the nation’s leading media companies. Cox chose Adify as its online advertising partner because of the companies’ shared respect for premium customer service.
Adify’s second major service, Adify Media, launched in April, 2009. Adify Media was an ad network, selling inventory across the 200 vertical ad networks powered by Adify Network Builder, as well as Cox Media properties.
In January 2011, Adify combined with Cox Cross Media, a division of Cox Reps, to create Cox Digital Solutions. As the digital sales arm of Cox Media Group, Cox Cross Media’s core focus is to simplify the buying process in a highly fragmented marketplace. Built on 110 years of media experience, Cox Cross Media’s value proposition lies in the strength of their relationships to their network of publishers. Cox Cross Media worked with clients on how to leverage web, mobile, and television to engage audiences and drive brand awareness. Given the common goals of Adify and Cox Cross Media, it made sense to combine the two companies. This new entity combines the engaged audiences, thousands of specialty content sites, and the advanced technology offered by Adify with the local expertise offered by Cox Cross Media bringing to the market the largest source of premium national and local sites on the web.
