Steve Shaw, President
Prior to joining Cox Cross Media, Steve Shaw began his career in 1985 at Christal Radio Group based out of New York. Steve advanced from Account Executive to New York Sales Manager. In 1993, Steve was promoted to General Sales Manager and in 1997 promoted to President of Christal Radio.
In 2000, Steve Shaw accepted the position of President of Katz Radio Group, overseeing 1,200 radio stations and annual billings. Under Steve’s leadership, the Katz Radio Group annual revenue grew to over $1 billion dollars, positioning them as a leader in the radio rep industry.
In 2007, Steve joined the Cox Reps organization to work with senior management in creating Cox Cross Media. Cox Cross Media was built to provide a fully integrated digital sales solution to accommodate the largest brands and agencies out there.
Luke Edson, Senior Vice President, Strategy & Operations
Luke Edson was brought onto the Executive Team at Cox Digital Solutions to help with the strategy and operations that will help propel the company into the next level of their success. As SVP, Strategy & Operations, Luke oversees the Sales Planning functions, platform/publisher business, performance solutions, and the exchange platform.
Luke joined Cox Digital Solutions from IB Systems where he was the Chief Revenue Officer. While at IB, Luke was instrumental in managing all facets of the company to generate a positive net income. As a member of the senior management team, Luke built the IB Local Network brand from an idea to 100 MM unique visitors/month and transformed IB’s broadcasting TV website sales over 250% during his tenure. Ultimately, Luke played a critical role in Cox Digital Solutions’ acquisition of the IB Local network in January of 2011.
Prior to IB, Luke spent 7 years at AOL fast-tracking his way through the ranks starting as a coordinator and ending his time there as a Sales Director where he managed a $120 MM territory with a team of 14 direct reports.
Luke graduated from the University of Massachusetts and lives in Connecticut with his wife and four boys.
Matthew Fanelli, Senior Vice President, Sales
As a digital veteran, with over 10 years of industry experience, Matt brings to Cox Digital Solutions expertise in overall sales strategy, relationship building, and sales leadership, a history of proven revenue growth, and extensive digital technology knowledge. Most recently, at MNI, a Time Inc. Company, Matt managed a team of 25 digital professionals, producing double digit growth annually during his 5-year tenure. While at MNI, Matt became the company’s digital advocate spearheading technologies, initiatives, and programs leading to companywide efficiencies for MNI’s publisher and advertiser partners.
Prior to MNI, Matt spent almost 7 years leading a team in the overall digital sales strategy for Gannett. At Gannett, Matt drove $15 MM in digital revenue with triple digit increases year-over-year. In addition to sales leadership, Matt also led initiatives to help grow website traffic and expand the digital team to 15 sellers before his departure.
Matt has extensive speaking experience and is an active IAB member and industry advocate.
David Koch, Vice President, Media Operations
David has worked in digital media for 15+ years and currently runs Cox Digital Solutions’ Media Operations. Before joining Cox Digital Solutions, David held the position of Vice President, Operations & Technology with Cox Cross Media. As the second employee at CXM David played a critical role in setting up the backend technology and processes that were necessary in order to successfully launch the new venture in 2007.
From 2003 through 2007 David served as Director of Emerging Technology for TeleRep, the Cox Enterprises owned industry leading television advertising rep firm. Prior to that David held the position of Director of Operations & Technology at Cox Interactive Sales, a single site focused internet advertising rep firm exclusively representing the online properties of clients such as CBS SportsLine, AutoTrader.com, The Sporting News, Gamesville, Earthlink, Travel & Leisure, Food & Wine, Stuff Magazine, Smithsonian Magazine, Tripod and Weatherbug. David began his career in digital advertising in 1995 as Director of Marketing for Cox Interactive Sales.
Leif Welch, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Mobile
Leif is a 12-year veteran in the digital media space and an entrepreneur. He has extensive experience in developing new platform licensing opportunities and managing strategic partnerships for emerging web-based technologies. In his current role as SVP Publisher Sales & Development for Cox Digital Solutions, Leif manages a large team responsible for acquiring and developing publisher relationships by leveraging Cox Digital Solutions’ industry-leading ad network management and audience-targeting platform to drive revenue.
Prior to joining Cox Digital Solutions, Leif was SVP Platform Sales for Adify, where he was responsible for driving platform revenue for Adify’s white-label ad network solution. Prior to that, Leif founded MusiciansHub.com, a vertical search and aggregation engine for new and used music gear. Leif also co-founded and served as Chief Revenue Officer for AdMission Corporation, a rich media and dynamic display ad provider, which was sold to the Cobalt Group in 2008. Prior to that, Leif ran business development for IPIX and was a part of the business development team at AltaVista. Early in his career, he spent five years as financial analyst for Prudential Investments. Leif has an MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management, a BSE in Systems Engineering and BA in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a songwriter, performing musician, soccer player and father of three.
